Hello everyone, how are you today? We are starting a new chapter today.
Do you know anything about folklores/tales? (teacher waits for answer from student. If the students do not have any idea do not give them answer, instead ask the next question)
Can you give me an example of a folk lore or tale? (wait for students to answer. If they still can’t answer, give them an example of an Indonesian folklore. After that wait for them to come up with other examples)
Do you know folklores always have magical creatures like fairies, elves, genies? Are you aware of these creatures? (teacher can bring pictures of fairies and genies)
Imagine you meet a fairy and she decides to grant you some wishes. What will you ask the fairy for?
Genre connection means to make student aware of what they are
reading. Before the students start reading they know what kind of material they are reading.
Both personal and genre connections are bridges which are built to make reading easy for students.
Open your book and go to Chapter 1. We are going to read a story about a fisherman who gets a chance to meet an enchanted fish. With your partner read the story. While you are reading the story, underline the words you do not understand and try to visualize/imagine the story.
Did you like the story? (wait for the response) Now we will have a discussion based on the story we read. Make a group of 4-5. Now read each question and discuss with each other.

Do you think it is good to be greedy? (wait for response) It is not good to be greedy. Being greedy makes us do things which are not good.
We should always be thankful to our parents, our teachers, our family, our friends for everything they do for us. Most importantly we should be thankful to God.

Writing is very important for expressing or telling how we feel to other people.
Writing also important to share our knowledge about different aspects.
Do you remember any folklore that has suggestions and offers? Maybe it is a folklore that your parents or elders in the family told you when you were a kid? (wait for response)
Now, you write it down.
Remember, it shouldn’t be very short or long.
Try to put in all details you remember.
Make sure you remember to put commas and full stops in the right place.

2. Do you know what a pantomime is? With your partner create a pantomime of your favorite part of the story.
3. You have to create a postcard. Follow the instruction given in “Let’s Create and Contribute”part of your book. Good luck!
